Government Universities in Punjab and Counselling Process

I.K. Gujral Punjab Technical University (IKGPTU)

It is also known as Punjab Technical University (PTU). It was established in 1997 to technical, Pharma, management education in the state of Punjab. The campus is located at Jalandhar.

PTU Counselling Process

The majority of the engineering institutes in Punjab are affiliated to PTU.  Admission to its own campus and the affiliated colleges are done by the centralised counselling process conducted by PTU.

Panjab University (PU)

PU Counselling Process

Chandigarh: This is one of the oldest universities in India.  It was started in 1882 Lahore (Pakistan).  After the Independence of India, it was again started in 1947 as Panjab University. During that time administrative department is located at Solan, Himachal Pradesh. Later in 1956 it is relocated at Chandigarh.  Admissions in various courses are strictly done by the counselling process conducted by Panjab University.  Engineering, MBA, Law, Pharmacy are the major courses offered by the University.

Punjabi University

Punjabi University is a Government University situated in Patiala. It was established in 1962 to promote and enrichment of Punjabi dialect and culture. But now it offers various courses in the field of Engineering, Science, Management, Humanity, Commerce, Social Science etc. Admission are done after the counselling process conducted by the University.

Guru Nanak Dev University (GNDU)

GNDU was established in 1967. The campus is located at Amritsar.  It was started to honour the 500th birth commemoration of Guru Nanak Dev Ji, the author of Sikhism. Humanities, Commerce, Science, Engineering, MBA, Pharmacy, Law are the major courses offered by the University.  Admissions to the main campus and affiliated colleges are done after the counselling process conducted by the GNDU.

Baba Farid University of Health Sciences Faridkot (BFUHS)

BFUHS was established in 1998. The campus is located at Faridkot.  It was started to promote medical education in the state of Punjab. University offers various courses in the field of Medical Science, Dental Science, Nursing, Pharmacy etc.

Punjab Agricultural University (PAU)

The university was established in 1962. The main campus is located at Ludhiana. It is India’s 3rd oldest university of Agricultural Science.  University offers various courses in the field of Agriculture Science, Agricultural Engineering & Technology, Home Science, Basic Sciences and Humanities etc.  Admissions are done after the counselling process conducted by the University.

Maharaja Ranjit Singh State Technical University (MRSPTU)

MRSPTU was established in 2014. The main campus is located at Bathinda. Engineering, MBA, Architecture, Pharmacy, Applied Science, Humanities are the major courses offered by the University. Admission are done after the centralised counselling process conducted by the PTU.

Central University of Punjab (CUPB)

CUPB was established in 2009. The main campus is located at Bathinda. The CUPB offers master level and doctorate level degree programs in the field of Applied Sciences, Education, Engineering & Technology, Environment and Earth Sciences, Health Sciences, Legal Studies etc.  Admission are done after the centralised counselling process conducted by the University.

Rajiv Gandhi National University of Law (RGNUL)

The RGNUL was established in 2006 to promote Legal Education in the state of Punjab. It is a national University for Law education. The campus is located at Patiala. It offers courses like BALLB, LLM, Ph.D in Law and Social Science.  Admissions are done on the basis of Common Law Admission Test (CLAT).
