UIET aims at providing modern technical education & conducive learning environment to develop the skilled manpower for the industry. The emphasis is given on the development of employability skills and overall personality development so that our students may get better placements in the fast changing scenario of the global economy.
The Institute has been running a Management programme namely Master of Management Studies (MMS) with a strong foundation . Students will also have a reason-able exposure to certain modern technologies. The programme is designed to have many flexibilities and will have a very strong component of industry project experience.
These programmes are multi-disciplinary, technological in character and are designed to meet the requirements of newly emerging professional activities. While these programmes are also science and technology based, their requirements of mathematics, science, applied science etc.
BCA is a route for the Arts and Commerce students of 10+2 to join the band of computer professionals. The field relates to design, development and use of computer applications. Application, Implies amalgamation of operating system , a utility , and a programming language Thus, BCA graduates are able to develop and prepare documents, projects, presentations, design websites and demonstrate skills In running software programs.
Universal Polytechnic culture is based on overall growth. The students keep themselves busy with academic, cultural and literary activities. At the same time discipline is maintained by the institute to focus on professional growth.
MANAGEMENT QUOTA As per Government of Punjab Notification No. 13/129/2003-1TE2/1030 dated 5.4.2004, there is "Management Quota" to the tune of 33-1/3% (One third of the total seats). Out of the Management Quota, a maximum of 5% of the sanctioned seats are filled from amongst the Non-Resident Indians (NRI)/Persons of Indian Origin (PIO)/Foreign National Students and other related categories, in accordance with the procedure laid down in the PTU Information Brochure.
ELIGIBILITY CRITERIA
a) All those candidates who have passed the +2 matriculation examination with Maths, Science & English as the compulsory subjects. b) The admission to the open seats is made though Joint entrance test (JET) conducted by PSBTE & IT, Chandigarh. c) Admission to the management seats is conducted by Polytechnic as per guidelines issued by Punjab Govt.
LATERAL ENTRY SCHEME Admission through Lateral Entry to the B.Tech Programmes for diploma holders at the second year level is made on the basis of relative merit of the candidates in the Lateral Entry Engineering Test conducted by Punjab Technical University, Jalandhar/Aggregate of Diploma marks. Candidates admitted under this category study the same courses, as ordained in the regular scheme of respective B.Tech programmes, from 3rd semester onwards.
DISTRIBUTION OF SEATS The college admits 42 diploma-holders to 2nd year (3rd semester) of B.Tech degree courses.
