Mechanical Department's Industrial Visit to HMT Pinjore on 3rd September 2015.

HMT Ltd. Pinjore is one of the top manufacturing Tractor plants in North India. Also HMT is a leading manufacturer and exporter of Machine tools in India. This plant is situated on NH-22 near town of Pinjore and is spread in 850 acres having all basic facilities for employees of HMT Division.

The Students of Mechanical Engineering got this opportunity of visiting HMT Pinjore with the kind cooperation of Dr. Vikas Dhawan, Director, U.I.E.T Lalru. The students visited the assembly line, heat treatment shop, machine tool division. They got the basic knowledge and experience of various manufacturing processes like broaching, casting, hobbing vertical milling etc. In each and every shop the concerned in-charge briefed the students about the processes, practical applications which are related to the basic concepts of manufacturing that students are studying in their curriculum. A number of queries were asked by the students to shop in-charges regarding the technology used in HMT.

The CNC machine section in which assembly of various CNC machines like vertical milling, horizontal milling are assembled is main attraction of the students. The first time student got the knowledge of CNC programming and various operations performed on CNC machines. Also some CNC machines which were under repair in this section also shown to the students describing function of each and every electronic and mechanical parts. The students feel highly enthusiastic and motivated after this visit. We are thankful to Mr. Pankaj (Assistant PRO, HMT) and Mr. Mohan Lal Sharma for providing this golden opportunity.
