UGI celebrated Women's Day in the campus with Great Zeal and Enthusiasm

To salute the Womanhood and Existence of Women, Universal group of institutions celebrated Women’s Day on 2021 in UGI. Cultural Convenor, Dr. Kompal Wadhawan organised the event with great enthusiasm and effort. The event was graced by Prof. S.K Bawa, Dean in the Department of Education in Central University, Punjab, Dr. Bharti Joshi Assistant Professor in PGIMER, Chandigarh, Ms. Meenakshi, Senior Staff Nurse Co-ordinator, PGIMER Chandigarh, Padam Shree Awardee Madam Mamta Sodha, HPS shared their views via online platform. The inauguration session was presided by Dr. Kompal Wadhawan, Principal UCE. Explained the International Women Day-2021, theme “Women in Leadership Achieving and Equal Future in Covid-19 world.” All the HOI’s, Faculty members and students of all streams participated in this event. All women dignitaries of different avenues shared their views and experiences on the present status of women in the world. All the speakers lauded the achievements of women in all spheres of life and felt that the day is also a reminder of their responsibility to achieve gender equality. After the discussion on various issues of women, The Hon’ble Chairman of UGI, Dr. Gurpreet Singh gave his warm wishes on this special occasion, that woman is the life giver to the whole human race and it is the responsibility of everyone to give her a respectable status and honour in society. On this Special Day Director General Col. J.K Virk shared his views on the contribution of women in the up gradation of Society. A Woman is an idol which should be prayed by both family and Society. Women are not less than any men in any field. He advised women to empower themselves without waiting for any external agency to help them. Female Warriors of UGI Ms. Shipra Sharma and Ms. Parminder Kaur were appreciated by high dignitaries for their untiring contribution during Covid-19. High tea was served to all. Finally, the event was concluded with a vote of thanks given by Academic Director Ms. Parbhjot Kaur, which left the audience spellbound.
